The Texas 4-H Center is excited to host TWO Fashion project events in January. On Friday, January 13th we will be hosting a Duds to Dazzle Explore Project Training. It is a great program designed to introduce you to the newly released Texas 4-H Clothing & Textiles Explore Project Book. Participants will leave with a hard copy of important resources and be included in a drawing for a new sewing machine and Duds to Dazzle kit. Cost is $25 and includes lunch. This training is limited to the first 25 registrations, so don’t delay! Register via 4-H Connect.
ReFashion Retreat begins at 7:30pm on Friday, January 13th and runs to 11am on Sunday, January 15th. This program is in its fourth year at the Center and is a great introduction to the Sewing and Textiles projects. Educational sessions focus on sewing skills and techniques such as construction, fabric science, and felting. The highlight of the program is a fashion show on the last morning. Participants will buy something from a local thrift store on Saturday morning and spend the day tailoring and creating a new garment from it. They will then model their new creation on the final morning. This program is family-style, meaning that each youth must have an adult chaperone with them. One adult may chaperone multiple youth members. All adults must enroll as a 4-H volunteer, have a verified background check, and complete child protection training in 4-H Connect prior to camp.
Registration is $120 for youth and $90 for adults. Register via texas4hcenter.tamu.edu.
Please note that registration for these events is on two different websites. Registration for the Duds to Dazzle project training is on 4-H Connect. ReFashion Retreat registration is at texas4hcenter.tamu.edu.
